Dear Residents, Representative, Families, and Staff:
The health and safety of Shawnee Senior Living is our highest priority and we recognize the concerns regarding coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). We have been taking steps for several months to reduce the risk of infection, and there is evidence in Illinois now of widespread community transmission of COVID-19.
We have no new positive test results this week. We are following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as the state and local health departments for best practices and protocols to protect everyone’s health.
To prevent further spread of the disease, we proactively initiated and implemented infection prevention strategies and practices prior to the identification of any cases, including symptom screening of staff and residents, enhanced environmental cleaning and disinfection along with visitor screening and restriction. In addition, all staff are always required to wear masks, and we are closely monitoring residents for any fever, symptoms, or health status changes.
Residents who are confirmed with COVID-19 and/or experiencing symptoms will be relocated to an area of the facility to be placed on isolation precautions.
We are coordinating our efforts with the Cumberland County Health Department to promptly identify and monitor individuals who have had recent contact with our COVID-19 positive individual(s) to prevent further spread within our facility and community.
